How Mule Standalone actually works? -

I'm new to kids, and I'm trying to understand the difference between vertical standalone versus embedded. I have read the topics about this but I could not answer a question. How does a true standalone actually work? How does it handle web services? Is this an application server's functionality? Is it an embedded or bundled app server?

A true standalone server is a proprietary application server that hosts specific-specific applications.

Alternatively, mule can be embedded in other applications (such as Javanese web application) such as Spring Web Flow Embeds: Adding Maven dependencies and tie the container through a bootstrap class To tie (like a sarlet contact listener for web applications).

Independently of the deployment scenario (standalone or embedded), a reconnaissance app can do many things, including exposing web services.
