Console application vs WCF service application for WCF project in VS 2010 -

I am currently making my first step in the WCF world for the past week or so.

And in some Visual Studio 2010, do I trust my mind about using the console app or WCF service app?

Is it about own hosting or IIS and WAS hosting? The way I got it is that if I'm hosting myself, then the console goes the way of the application, because you will implement service host and proxy itself, while IIS or In case of hosting, will we use a WCF service application? Where does ServiceHost occur dynamically?

Is my understanding correct about this issue? Or there are more things in it? I think some links are missing here ...
